Its been quite a while since I've posted anything. Pojan even tagged me- bilalah nak buat tu... Basically my life here at Cambridge is going on fine except for the fact that I still can't comprehend most of my lectures (we even have saturdays classes), haha.. So maybe I should explain a bit bout the system here at cambridge. Its a very complicated 800 year old system. There is the University of Cambridge and there are 31 Colleges. Each student accepted to the Uni will be assigned a College. The colleges are supposed to deliver the personal touch where each student will be catered for on one-to-one basis (at least thats what the person in charge said in her speech).
I was actually touched when my college prepared halal chicken and a non-alcoholic seperate sauce to go with it for our commemoration dinner (I was imagining it to be something like the Harry Potter movie, but my college is a modern one -it was fun nonetheless). They also prepared Halal meat for the president's brunch! My college is rated pretty well when it comes to food. Its in the top 5 (out of 31 colleges) I think. My college is also an all girls college (there is only 3 or 4 of these), its 5-10 minutes walk from the Center for Mathematical Science (CMS) where my department is. Its like 20-30 minutes walk from the center but there is a nearby 'kedai runcit' that sells halal meat so its ok. Btw, mathematics students are 'mathmo's here in cambridge. mathmo sounds terrific, macam superhero yang genius ajer bunyinya. hahahahaha...baiknya prepare halal food for muslims...Nampaknya I misconception lagi. Banyak baca pasal mat salleh yang tak suka muslims, I guess it's wrong in Cambridge then. Ramai ke foreigners? Any japanese guy?(selain daripada the one yang you mention not friendly tu...hehehehe...mcrose mata keranjang lagi)
As far as I know, my college is the one yang buat macam ni. In fact, I am having chicken and non-alcoholic sauce again for dinner tomorrow (we have free formal dinners every Tuesday). Baik betul, siap emel tanya nak daging halal ke tak (sbb ade Muslim tak kisah). Terharu. So maybe I should start treating them nicer too :)
Foreigner berlambak2, maths dept lagilah mostly guys. Japanese guy sorg je yang I have met - that one. Chinese guys banyaklah - kinda suprising actually. Even Mexicans, Germans, Italian..... u name it. Haha
