Questions and Answers

As a reply to question of the unknown (whoever u are, ur a guy aren't u?)

This is what I think....my opinion.
It does not, in any way represents the views of the mathematical society as a whole.

y is randomness intriguing?

The fact that u can predict something random by utilising probability (to a certain level of accuracy) is intriguing. So randomness might not be so random after all.

is there beauty in rolling a dice and not knowing the number that may come up?

yup. If we knew what number will come up whats the point (and fun) in rolling the dice in the first place. the beauty of rolling a dice is exactly that we dunno what the outcome is.

is there beauty in something that changes, almost invariably without rhyme nor reason?

It may appear that way (invariable or without reason) but that just means that nobody found a rythm or pattern yet. The beauty would be apparent when somebody finds the explanation.

i could name a pretty flower by the name 'lorweisdyoiawedh' using a random character generator. would that do the flower justice in reflecting its beauty?

Firstly, the randomness of the random character generator is very arguable, how can a deterministic machine generate something random?

Secondly, justice and beauty is very subjective, if everyone could agree on that, there will be world peace.

So if I say that randomness and uncertainty is beautiful and u don't think it is, I'll agree to disagree.
Ok that all for today folks. I got work to do.

hehehe. I agree a lot with Fadh. No excitement if you already know what your future would be right? hahahaha. Cool arguments. Like it a lot. huhuhuhuhu...(n_n)v

These are intriguing questions in the comment section. Well, you got a whole new entry for them right? (n_n)v

in my opinion, u're not fascinated by randomness. rather, by the pseudo sense of anticipation.

"The fact that u can predict something random by utilising probability (to a certain level of accuracy) is intriguing"

lol. in the next answer u're speaking of chaos theory.. u should add a lorentz attractor :P

"It may appear that way (invariable or without reason) but that just means that nobody found a rythm or pattern yet. The beauty would be apparent when somebody finds the explanation."

now, assuming that the object of discussion is truly random and not something that 'appears' random as stated by ur answer. would it still be beautiful?

to me, randomness lacks beauty.

a kid could throw random paint of many colors to a white canvas. it is nothin' as compared to monet's work on impressionism.

a mathematican can scribble random variables as a theorem of gibberish. it won't be as lovely as kuratowski's effort in proving the instance of planarity.

an architect can put random bricks and pillars to build a messy heap, calling it a random work of beauty, but i bet it cant compare to klcc.

there may be beauty in 'predicting randomness' or pseudo randomness, but u cant equate 'effort' with 'focus'.

a photographer captures a picture of a random, suffering child in the bombing of vietnam. the picture aint beautiful, it's catastrophic.
her effort however, in portrayin the pain of the nation, is beautiful.

simply put.. beauty lies in design..

moon, future is not entirely unknown.

istiharah, insyaAllah can give u a glimpse of what the future holds.

it's all bout faith.

I guess different people have different views of things. I believe your previous comment is more on the result of randomness. Yes, the beauty of the result of something random might not be as beautiful as the one carefully planned and calculated. But, somehow, randomness, I believe for certain people is intriguing and beautiful in its own ways.

This is my opinion based on my limited knowledge of randomness.
